The PPGCA has a single concentration area, called Animal Health and Production, which is divided into 3 (three) lines of research that allow expanding the field of work of graduates and meeting the premises of both the Institutional Development Plan and the Plan of the National Graduate Program. The lines and their main characteristics are described below:

Animal Morphophysiology and Biotechnology: This line develops dissertations and theses related to obtaining physiological and morphological knowledge of domestic and wild species, as well as the development of reproductive biotechniques in vivo and in vitro and the establishment of anesthetic drugs.

Animal Production and Conservation of the Semi-Arid: This line develops dissertations and theses related to the conservation of ecosystems, evaluation of animal adaptability to the semi-arid climate, zootechnical development and establishment of fish technology.

Animal Health: This line, a pioneer in the creation of the PPGCA, develops dissertations and theses related to the diagnosis and epidemiology of pathologies, drug development in the area of ​​veterinary medicine and microbiological evaluations in the quality control of products of animal origin.
